and working on online and real time learning. I did my Masters
(MTech.) in Computer Science & Engg. ('02)
from the Indian
Institute of Technology, Bombay and worked in Strand Genomics (2002-'04) before
moving to Edinburgh.

Project 1 (MTech): Measuring
similarity of text using WordNet
In text processing the usual way to treat the text
is just as a bag of words. Various different statistical measures
are applied on these to measure the similarity of two texts. Two texts
are said to be similar if they share a large percentage of words
contained in them. Phenomena like synonymy and polysemy in the language
makes this quite error prone. This project looked at how these
difficulties can be overcome by including the semantics of the language
into the similarity measurement. WordNet was used as a means
to achieve
this. |
